Safety Patrol

Unlike other clubs, the Euclid School Safety Patrol, under the advisement of Mrs. Joan Weir, is a daily activity all through the school year.  It is open to all fifth grade students who meet the academic and behavioral standards.  Membership is voluntary, but is reinforced with faculty, administrative, and parental permission.
The main purpose of the safety patrol is to assist faculty and staff to ensure the safety of all students in the morning upon entering school, as well as during lunch hour and lunchtime recess.
Patrol members are assigned to each classroom teacher from Pre-K through the fourth grade.  Patrols also assist the school nurse, as well as oversee student traffic into and out of the school building during the lunch hour recess.
Meetings with the patrol officers are held weekly.  The whole patrol meets once during each marking period.  Individual meetings take place as the need arises.  We have an installation ceremony in the fall at which badges are presented, and a party in June to culminate the year.

Computer Club

The Euclid School Computer Club is open to fifth graders and meets for 10 sessions after school beginning in March and ending in May.  The students meet in the Computer Lab and work through the Class Link System to develop skills in Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Power Point.
Last year, the members designed and created Internet Safety brochures using templates from the Microsoft Publisher software. In addition they gathered information from the Internet and compiled it using Internet Safety computer class lessons.  These brochures were on display for Achievement Night.
The club’s second project was to create a power point slide presentation on a chosen topic.  Skills utilized included:  inserting pictures, layout, custom animation, addition of sound, motion, and background, as well as timing of each slide to match the content presented.

Nutrition Club

The Nutrition Club creates nutritious recipes and spreads “healthy” attitudes around the school in regard to health education.  Each month a different activity will take place that will include a different grade level. The club will host a walk to raise health awareness.  Three representatives will be chosen from each third grade class to be the captains of the club.

Student Council

The Student Council consists of two representatives from third and fourth grade classes, and three representatives from each fifth grade class.  Students are elected yearly by their peers.  Meetings are held once per month to discuss upcoming events and important school issues.  The Student Council helps out the community and others by sponsoring a food drive, toy drive, visiting senior citizen homes, sending letters to our troops, raising money for those in need and hosting a Talent Show in the Spring.
